Cubs Return To Town Below .500

[SARASOTA, FL] The number “.500” was largely on the minds of the Daytona Cubs as they entered Saturday evening’s game. A win would mean going .500 against the Sarasota Reds, going .500 on their eight-game road trip and getting to .500 on the season with a record of 18-18. Sarasota righty Jordan Smith had another number in mind: 9. As in nine innings of work. In the end, neither side reached its goal. Smith was pulled after 8.2 innings of dominance as the Reds beat the Cubs 5-1.

[SARASOTA, FL] Coming into Thursday’s game, the Daytona Cubs were undefeated when entering a contest one-game below .500. Sarasota Reds starter Daniel Guerrero did not care, pitching seven innings of scoreless baseball and leaving with a 3-0 lead. The Cubs, however, rallied in the ninth, only to lose 3-2.
