Jupiter Takes Three of Four From Daytona
Matt Dominguez Homers for Third Straight Day for the Hammerheads
After a one hour and thirty seven minute rain delay the Jupiter Hammerheads (3-5) defeated the Daytona Cubs (4-4) in a pitchers duel 2-1. Both pitchers dominated to start off the ball game. Chris Carpenter made his Daytona Cubs debut as he pitched six scoreless innings of baseball and struck out five batters. Jose Rosario (4-2) matched Carpenter pitch for pitch and held the Cubs scoreless as well through the first six innings of play. The Cubs would finally crack Rosario and the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh. After a Josh Vitters single up the middle, Jonathan Wyatt hit an RBI double to right field which brought in Vitters. The lead would not last long for the Cubs. Against reliever Luke Sommer (1-2), Louis Ott led off the top of the eighth with a single to left field. After Sommer retired the next to batter Matt Dominguez hit a two run home run over the left field wall and gave the Hammerheads a 2-1 lead. The blast was Dominguez's third straight game with a home run. The Cubs had a chance to tie in the ninth with Jonathan Wyatt at third base and two away. Kyle Gunderson earned his ninth save of the year as Jovan Rosa grounded out to second to end the game. The Cubs will head to Space Coast Stadium and start a short two game series against the Brevard County Manatees tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m.
